Individual Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are at the heart of helping Rancho Damacitas youth move beyond their painful pasts into hopeful, successful futures after foster care. There are a variety of opportunities to get involved and directly impact those we serve.  All volunteers must be over 18 years old, unless otherwise noted.

All interested individuals must first attend an informational tour.  They are held the second Tuesday of each month from 5:00 – 6:00 PM.  For more information, or to RSVP, contact Kristi Piatkowski at (951) 302-2317 x221 or kristi@4kidsfirst.org.


WEEKLY OPPORTUNITIES:

FAMILY NIGHT VOLUNTEER

Every Tuesday afternoon the campus bustles with activities for the kids and their Rancho Family. Volunteers help run each activity that can include crafts, sports, board games, or family competitions.  Volunteers are needed from 4:00 – 6:00 PM.


MARKETING INTERN

Individuals with specific skill sets and experience will help create, coordinate, and implement media campaigns and marketing materials.  Individuals must be over 18 and pursuing a career within the marketing fields.  This is a volunteer leadership position with a weekly commitment of 10 hours for a minimum of 6 months.


MENTOR

Mentors are matched with individual children and/or a home to help the children explore new interests and build life-long relationships.  Individuals must be 21 years old, have volunteered with Rancho Damacitas for at least six months prior, complete background clearances, training, and commit to a minimum of serving 5 hours a month for 1 year.


OFFICE SUPPORT

Office volunteers help with a variety of projects from data management to helping us sort and distribute in-kind donations.  Individual projects will depend on the volunteer’s skills and can include data entry, mailing support, sorting and organizing donations.  Volunteers commit to 3 – 5 hours, one day a week between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.


TUTOR

Volunteer tutors provide one-on-one homework help for children ages 6-18 and college tutoring support for our scholarship students.  Subjects in most need are Math and English.  Individuals with previous tutoring or teaching experience highly preferred.  Volunteers must have volunteered with Rancho Damacitas for six months prior, complete background clearances, attend a training session and be able to commit to one evening a week.


REGULAR OPPORTUNITIES:

LIFE SKILLS COACH

Individuals share their life experiences with our current and former foster youth.  Volunteers can host a small group discussion on careers or parenting to holding a cooking session.


SPECIAL EVENT VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are needed to support regular fundraising events benefiting Rancho Damacitas’ programs and youth.  Activities may include running an activity, guest registration, or selling opportunity tickets.  No on-going commitment required.  Depending on the event, volunteers can be under 18 years old.  Age requirement depends on the event.


SEASONAL OPPORTUNITIES:

SANTA’S HELPER

Volunteers are needed to help organize and wrap the gifts for the children during the Holidays.  Volunteers must be over 18.


HOLIDAY BREAK HELPER

Volunteers are needed throughout the year to help run the extra activities happening on campus during the Holiday Breaks.  Volunteers can hold cooking workshops, run special activities, play games, teach music lessons, or share their interests and hobbies with the children on campus.  Holiday break needs include Christmas, Spring Break and Summer.  The extra special activities are held for a couple of hours weekdays between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
